    The Call
    Isaiah 6:1-8
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” THEME:  An encounter with the living God will bring us into a place of confession and vulnerability. God graciously cleanses, forgives and redeems us. Once transformed for his glory he calls us into His mission to the world starting right where we are. In this call of the prophet (one who speaks the words of God) we can see a natural outline:
    1.       LOOKING UP:  First, we have an encounter with God. 2.       LOOKING IN:  Second, we realize who we are in juxtaposition to our Creator and respond appropriately. 3.       LOOKING OUT:  Third, when God has done his work in us he then proceeds to invite us into mission to the world. Each of these requires an appropriate response from Isaiah and now from us. Challenge:  What will your response be to the Lord as he continues to call men and women into mission to the world (your present context, right where he has placed you)?

    Do the Gospels Preach Jesus?
    Matthew 1:1, Mark 1:1, Luke 2:8-11, John 20:30-31
Do the Gospels preach Jesus? Specifically, do the Gospels preach Jesus, the Messiah, the fulfillment of the story of Israel. Did Jesus preach himself as the Messiah that fulfills the story of Israel?
